What is TR19?

Thorough kitchen extract cleaning is essential for every catering facility, which is why the BESA developed the TR19 HVCA guide to good practice. It is the standard of hygiene your kitchen extract system should meet. Following TR19 guidelines will ensure your ducting and extract system is safe and at low risk of catching or spreading fire. All catering facilities must clean extract systems regularly to guarantee good hygiene.

“Around a quarter of the 24,000 accidental fires in UK non-domestic buildings each year are caused by cooking appliances. Fires are an occupational hazard in commercial kitchens, but their impact is made far worse by the rapid spread of the fire through poorly maintained grease extract systems and duct work.” – BESA

Extract system installation, what do you need to consider?

Badly designed or fitted extract system’s will cause major problems, due to build up of grease leaking out of the gaps increasing the chances of a fire. Hatches must be installed every 2 meters throughout the system to allow efficient cleaning.

Cater Clean 24 Seven are certified BESA members

One of the many reasons our clients choose to work with us is because of our detailed reports. We supply each customer with a breakdown of their system to allow them to view the condition before and after the clean. Furthermore our reports provide piece of mind that your system has been cleaned to a high level. We are able to take grease deposit readings throughout the system so you can compare the results. This will help us to manage areas which may need extra attention and more regular cleaning.

Cater Clean 24 Seven will service your entire extract system and provide specialist cleaning of all of the following areas:

  • Internal and external canopy
  • Ducting
  • Extract fan
  • Exit grill
  • Baffle and mesh filter
